Why Paris

THE CITY OF DANGEROUS IDEAS

Home to writers, artists, and academics from all over the world, Paris’ diversity in people means that there’s a diversity in storytelling and in ideas. The city’s streets, from the luxurious Rue de Rivoli to the more everyday streets of Belleville, offer real-time history lessons through the buildings on their streets and the people that lived there past and present. Paris is a city full of people who care about books, films, art, and culture. Whilst the buildings are extraordinary and the expos overwhelming, it’s the people that make it the perfect place for our festival.

Why Reid Hall

CENTRE OF INTELLECTUALITY

Reid Hall is not only an academic institution, but a world in and of itself that was acquired by, and eventually established for, women. Acquired by the building’s namesake Elizabeth Mills Reid, Reid Hall has been breaking down institutional and social borders since the late nineteenth century as a home for academic women. In 2019, Reid Hall is now a Columbia Global Center. A hub of academic discussion and thoughtful, passionate students and teachers from both sides of the pond, Reid Hall is the perfect setting for a student-led festival.

AN IDEA THAT IS NOT DANGEROUS IS NOT WORTH BEING CALLED AN IDEA AT ALL.
